Celebrating a Busy Week at Vyner!
Last week was another busy and exciting week at the Vyner site, with pupils taking part in a wide range of activities as we celebrated both Careers Week and World Book Day.
As part of Careers Week, pupils visited the Careers Fair in New Brighton, where they had the opportunity to meet a variety of employers and organisations. It was a great experience for pupils to learn about different career paths, ask questions and start thinking about the skills they might need for the future. The pupils represented the school brilliantly and engaged really well with the employers they spoke to.
Back in school, pupils were also thinking about future skills in lessons. In Thompson class, pupils explored how communication skills can support employability during their PSHE lesson. JJ, James, Bobby, Fin and Liam produced some excellent work and showed a great understanding of why communication is such an important life skill.
Across the school, pupils marked World Book Day in lots of different ways. It was wonderful to see pupils enjoying some quiet reading time, with Reece, Logan, Kai, Carter, Josh and Aimee all fully engaged in their books.
One of the highlights of the day was a special World Book Day Escape Room challenge. Pupils had to read clues carefully, search for specific books and solve puzzles in order to unlock the room. The activity was a fantastic way to combine reading, teamwork and problem-solving, and the pupils showed great determination as they worked together to crack the codes and complete the challenge.
Learning across the week was equally impressive. In English, pupils explored how using verbs can make writing more powerful, with Daisy, Ethan and Bonny producing some excellent examples. In Geography, Joe, Jayden, Riley and JJ worked hard revising ecosystems, showing great focus and engagement. In Maths, pupils in Spencer worked brilliantly on algebra, with Lizzy, Lacey, Lucie, Alfie, Blake, Leighton, Tristan, Sophia and Lawrenah producing some fantastic work.
Creativity was also on display in Art, where Bonnie, Ethan and Kieran completed detailed research on the British painter Sarah Graham, developing their artist study skills. Pupils also designed some impressive book covers for World Book Day, with Ash and Isla producing some beautiful ideas.
Some pupils also enjoyed a fantastic trip to Chester Zoo, where they represented the school brilliantly. Isla, Lawrenah, Lizzy, Lacey and Liam impressed staff with their excellent manners and thoughtful questions about conservation. Pupils from Sinfield, Hopper and Spencer also visited the zoo and showed great curiosity throughout the day.
Another exciting trip saw pupils visit Eureka! Science + Discovery, where they explored interactive exhibits, experimented with technology and even met Barkemedes the robotic dog. Carter also had the chance to try out a robotic hand, which was a fascinating experience for everyone involved.
Back in school, pupils continued to impress in practical lessons. In Food Technology, Sophia created some fantastic pizzas, while Bonnie and Abby made some delicious mac and cheese to donate. .
We also celebrated lots of achievements on our Recognition Wall, with many pupils from Spencer being recognised for their hard work and positive attitudes.Â
Outside the classroom, pupils from Sinfield and Hopper have also been making a positive difference in the community. John, Scarlett, Isla, Ollie and Logan have been helping to clear litter in the local area, showing great pride in their community. We even got a thank you email from the local community along with a post on their Facebook group!
We rounded off the week with a lovely Afternoon Tea celebration for pupils who had earned three gold awards or more. It was a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work and positive attitudes. The group had some brilliant conversations, with topics ranging from Dungeons and Dragons to dairy products, which certainly made for an entertaining end to the week!
