Leasowe Campus

Leasowe Campus is a specialist SEMH provision within The Observatory School.  Here, we believe one simple truth: connection changes outcomes.

For our pupils, learning begins with feeling safe, seen and understood. Many arrive with complex SEMH needs and disrupted early experiences that have shaped patterns of dysregulation. Our role is not to ask “What is wrong?” but “What has happened, and what is needed now?”

When children feel safe, they can build trusting relationships. When they trust, they can learn. This is how the story changes.

How We Support Your Child

  • We understand that behaviour is a way of communicating feelings.

  • We help children learn to recognise and manage their emotions.

  • We use calm, consistent routines so pupils know what to expect.

  • We stay connected to children, even when things feel difficult.

  • We work closely with families to build trust and improve attendance.

Our staff model calmness and reassurance, helping children regulate their emotions before expecting them to work or reflect. We believe belonging comes before achievement — children need to feel they matter before they can make progress.

What this means for Pupils

Because relationships are the intervention:

  • Pupils feel safe and stay connected, even during challenge

  • Regulation improves and learning time increases

  • Attendance strengthens through trust with families

  • Pupils move from survival to curiosity, and from reactivity to reflection

At Leasowe Campus, belonging is unconditional and relationships remain intact.

We are committed to being a place of safety, stability and growth — a school where connection leads, and where every child’s story can change.
