Weekly Update from the Vyner Campus

Last week was one of those weeks that reminds us just how much happens in a school day – the small victories, the quiet progress, the big smiles, and the moments that make us stop and say, this is why we do what we do.

Across the school, classrooms were buzzing with learning. Pupils challenged themselves in Maths, tackling everything from calculating volume to understanding mortgages and borrowing money – big concepts handled with confidence and curiosity. In English, stories came to life as pupils planned Greek myths, explored powerful poetry, and practised breaking longer texts into manageable chunks. Creative writing shone too, with thoughtful language choices, exciting vocabulary and growing independence on display.

Science and Geography lessons sparked brilliant discussions, from predicting how elements react based on their place in the periodic table, to exploring different types of rainfall and the world around us. PSHE lessons encouraged pupils to think deeply about health, wellbeing and making positive choices, with mature conversations around mental health, smoking, vaping and self-help strategies.

There were also plenty of hands-on experiences. Visits to the farm and Gautby Road gave pupils the chance to learn outside the classroom, showing they could be safe, ready and respectful while engaging with animals and new environments. Back in school, computing lessons saw pupils designing games, developing coding skills and growing in confidence week by week.

The week ended on a particularly special note with Afternoon Tea, a chance to celebrate pupils who had earned their place through consistent effort, positive behaviour and making good choices. Congratulations to everyone who achieved this – it was thoroughly deserved, and we are incredibly proud of you.

As we closed the week, there was a real sense of pride in how far pupils have come since September. Progress looks different for everyone, but every step forward matters – and last week was full of them.

Well done to all our pupils and staff for another fantastic week. We can’t wait to see what the next one brings
