Vyner STEM Team Gears Up for Greenpower Kit Car Challenge
Pupils at Vyner Campus are getting ready to take on an exciting new STEM challenge this year as they begin work on building their very own Greenpower kit car.
As part of the project, Year 10 pupils visited Aintree Racecourse to watch The Hive compete in the Greenpower kit car race. It was an inspiring day for our pupils, who had the opportunity to see the excitement of engineering and motorsport in action. We were especially thrilled to watch Carter and his team perform so brilliantly, finishing in first place 🤩
The visit has given our pupils a real insight into what can be achieved through teamwork, problem solving and engineering skills, and it has sparked lots of enthusiasm for our own project here at Vyner.
Back in school, the build has already begun. Ollie has made a fantastic start on the kit car and has already assembled the chassis. This is an exciting first step in what promises to be a brilliant project for the STEM team.
The challenge is run by the Greenpower Education Trust, a UK-based charity which inspires young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths through the unique opportunity to design, build and race an electric car. The project is designed to unlock potential, develop practical engineering skills and encourage young people to consider future careers in STEM.
Projects like this give pupils the chance to apply their learning in a meaningful and engaging way, while developing confidence, resilience and teamwork.
If any pupils are interested in being part of the team, please speak to Mr Dickson.
We are really looking forward to seeing this project develop over the year and can’t wait to follow the team’s progress.
