A Week of Achievement, Teamwork and New Beginnings at Vyner Campus

t has been another busy and successful week at Vyner Campus, filled with sporting achievements, creative learning, kindness and plenty of opportunities for pupils to shine.

World Cup Sports Week

Our World Cup-themed Sports Week was a fantastic success. Pupils took part in a range of sporting challenges and worked hard to earn points and medals for their teams. It was wonderful to see pupils encouraging one another, showing resilience and enjoying the friendly competition.

Mr Whitehead brought the week to a close with a special Sports Awards Assembly, celebrating the effort, teamwork and achievements shown throughout the events. Isla, Billy and Logan were among those recognised for their excellent performances, while Alfie received a medal after being part of the winning basketball team. Isla and Joe were also proudly named our Athletes of the Year.

Several other pupils received special awards for their performances during the week. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part and helped to make the event so enjoyable.

A Successful Transition Day

We were also delighted to welcome pupils for our Transition Day. Pupils had the opportunity to spend time in their new classrooms, meet their teachers and support staff, and begin learning the routines they will follow next year.

Transition can sometimes feel daunting, but our pupils approached the day with confidence and maturity. Current pupils helped our new starters feel welcome, and staff worked hard to ensure that everyone felt safe, supported and included. We look forward to seeing our new pupils again and welcoming them fully into the Vyner Campus community in September.

Learning Across the Campus

There has also been some excellent learning taking place across the curriculum. Pupils have worked collaboratively to interpret data, completed thoughtful PSHE work about the impact of negative behaviour online and developed their understanding of the civil rights movement through learning about the Greensboro sit-in.

In English, pupils completed detailed language analysis and explored scenes from Othello. Music pupils successfully identified rhymes in popular songs, while pupils in Food Technology produced delicious flapjacks that looked and smelled amazing.

Our music room continues to be a popular and positive addition to the campus, with pupils developing their skills and enjoying opportunities to play instruments together.

Creativity has also been celebrated in Art, where Ethan and Bonnie made an excellent start on their final pieces. In STEM Club, Yasin impressed everyone with the bright idea of producing a 3D-printed digital sundial.

Preparing for New Adventures

Our Duke of Edinburgh pupils have been busy preparing for their expedition. They practised important navigation skills, including using maps and compasses, and made sure that their equipment was packed and ready for the journey.

We have also celebrated excellent reading progress, mathematical achievement and acts of kindness. Harvey showed tremendous generosity after winning the summer-themed quiz by giving his prize to the runner-up. Pupils also demonstrated compassion by helping to care for Brian the rabbit, showing kindness and responsibility throughout.

As we move closer to the summer holidays, every day continues to count. Well done to all pupils and staff for another brilliant week at Vyner Campus.
