Wall of Fame: Staying Cool, Working Hard and Celebrating Sports Week

It has been a good two weeks at the Vyner Campus, with our Wall of Fame packed full of achievements from across the school. Even during the heatwave, pupils and staff worked hard to stay cool, safe and focused, while still making the most of a very busy week of learning.

Our World Cup themed Sports Week brought lots of excitement to the campus. Pupils took part in events, challenges and tournaments, showing teamwork, encouragement and determination throughout. It was fantastic to see pupils supporting each other, using each other’s strengths and celebrating success together. A special well done to pupils in Spencer who showed amazing teamwork during Sports Day, and to those who took part in tournaments leading up to the event.

The heatwave also gave pupils the chance to learn about keeping safe in the sun. In PSHE, pupils looked at sun safety and why it is so important to look after ourselves in hot weather. Some pupils even made their own slushies to help keep cool, which was a great practical way to enjoy the sunshine safely.

The new music room is now up and running, and it has already become a really positive space for pupils. John has been working hard on the ukulele, listening carefully to instructions and making fantastic progress. Lucie also showed patience and support by teaching Miss Bennett how to play a tune on the piano. It has been lovely to see pupils building confidence, learning new skills and enjoying music across the campus.

There has also been lots of excellent work in lessons. Connor, Jamal, Freddy and Sam have been developing their CVs and work experience applications, thinking carefully about their skills and how to present themselves for the future. In English, pupils have continued reading Othello, with Logan, Scarlett and Ash taking on parts and performing with confidence and enthusiasm.

Our artists have been very busy too. Logan created an excellent artist research page as part of his independent project on alien evolution, while Daisy, Jade and Bonnie produced detailed plans for their final artwork. Scarlett also created a wonderful digital art piece, and Sinfield pupils have brightened up the garden area by displaying their artwork outside.

Maths learning has also been celebrated, with pupils working on symmetry and pie charts. Isla, Lucie and Scarlett showed real effort by interpreting questions and measuring angles accurately to create pie charts, while Kieran received a special mention for the progress he has made in symmetry.

The Wall of Fame shows just how much our pupils achieve every week. From sport and music to art, English, maths, PSHE and careers work, there has been so much to celebrate. Well done to everyone featured this week — we are very proud of you all.
