On the 15th January, 2026 The Observatory School football team (Vyner) delivered two disciplined and hardworking performances in the Merseyside Schools League, demonstrating excellent organisation, commitment, and teamwork across both fixtures.

Match 1: The Observatory 0–0 Newfield
The opening match was a tightly contested encounter, with both teams defending resolutely throughout. The Observatory created several positive attacking moments, with LJ causing consistent problems down the flank by turning defenders and driving forward. In midfield, Joe controlled the tempo with composure, linking play with intelligent and well-timed passes.

Defensively, Ethan commanded his penalty area with confidence, dealing calmly with any threats. Olly produced a dominant display at left back, combining strong defending with support going forward, while Bobby delivered a disciplined performance in defensive midfield, effectively shielding the back line.

Match 2: The Observatory 0–0 Cloughwood
The second game followed a similar pattern, with The Observatory once again showing excellent defensive structure and resilience. Sam and Freddy were outstanding at the heart of the defence, working together superbly to keep Cloughwood at bay. Jamal impressed at right back, displaying energy, determination, and quality throughout.

In midfield, Connor covered every blade of grass, breaking up opposition play and quickly turning defence into attack. Going forward, Liam made intelligent runs to stretch the play, while Sonny came off the bench to inject real energy, combining enthusiasm with moments of skill.

Across both matches, the team showed great character, maintaining two clean sheets and demonstrating strong teamwork, effort, and discipline. These performances provide excellent foundations to build on as the Merseyside Schools League campaign continues.
