Vyner Campus Celebrates a Fantastic Start to the Term 🌟

The Vyner Campus has made an excellent start to the term, with pupils demonstrating outstanding effort, resilience and enthusiasm across the curriculum. From academic progress to personal development, it has been wonderful to see so many successes celebrated both in and out of the classroom.

Learning Across the Curriculum 📚

Pupils have been working hard in lessons and producing some fantastic work. In English, pupils have explored creative writing, formal letter writing and travel writing, with staff praising the quality of planning, presentation and ideas. Geography lessons have seen strong engagement, including excellent work on weather, urbanisation and scatter graphs, while science lessons have been a real highlight, with pupils excelling in topics such as levers, hydrocarbons and scientific quizzes. A special mention goes to pupils achieving top quiz scores and showing clear improvements in effort and attitude.

Creativity and Art 🎨

Art lessons have continued to be a strength at Vyner, with pupils producing impressive African mask research pages, original artwork inspired by traditional designs, and detailed portrait drawings using a range of shading techniques. Staff have been delighted with the focus, creativity and pride pupils are showing in their work.

Computing, Coding and Problem Solving 💻

Year 8 pupils have been busy building their own apps in computing, creating games that can be played on phones and tablets. The quality of the builds so far has been exceptional, showing strong problem-solving skills and creativity. In addition, pupils have successfully completed ICDL diagnostic tests, with staff praising their determination and progress in computing.

Personal Development, PSHE and Social Skills 💬

PSHE lessons have prompted thoughtful discussions around personal safety, drugs and alcohol, and respect for others. Pupils have also taken part in speaking and listening interventions, learning the importance of listening carefully and allowing others to share their opinions. Social sessions have been enjoyed by many, including a fun cake-decorating activity that encouraged teamwork and positive interaction.

Expanding Our Practical Curriculum 🏕️

This term has also seen the introduction of the Duke of Edinburgh Award to the Year 10 curriculum, further expanding our practical and life-skills-based offer. Pupils have begun working towards the skills, volunteering and physical sections of the award, showing commitment, maturity and enthusiasm. This addition reflects our continued focus on preparing pupils for adulthood by building independence, resilience and confidence beyond the classroom.

A Warm Welcome to Miss Irvine 🍽️

We are delighted to welcome Miss Irving, who has joined the Vyner Campus as our new Food Technology teacher. While the Food Technology room is not quite finished yet, pupils are already very excited and are looking forward to using the space as soon as it is ready. Food Technology will play an important role in developing pupils’ independence and practical skills for the future.

Attendance, Effort and Attitude ⭐

Attendance has remained a key focus this term, with many pupils achieving over 90% and several being recognised as top attenders. Staff have also celebrated pupils who have shown improved attitudes to learning, kindness, and resilience, particularly those who have made a strong return after the holidays.

Physical Education, Enrichment and Darts Fever 🎯

In PE, pupils have made an excellent start to the term by completing fitness testing and recording results. The effort and motivation shown across groups has been fantastic, with several pupils recognised as Athletes of the Week. Alongside this, pupils have developed a real passion for darts, which has quickly become a popular activity across the campus. Darts has supported focus, turn-taking, maths skills and positive social interaction, and staff have been impressed with the enthusiasm and sportsmanship shown.

Looking Ahead 🚀

With mock exams underway for Year 11 and continued hard work across all year groups, the Vyner Campus has set a very positive tone for the term ahead. Staff are incredibly proud of the effort, progress and positive attitudes being shown by pupils every day.
