Wall of Fame: Celebrating the Week at Vyner

Last week’s Wall of Fame assembly was full of fantastic achievements, kindness and memorable moments from across school. Pupils were celebrated for their hard work, creativity, resilience and positive contributions to school life.

A special mention goes to Leighton H, who showed excellent manners and respect during the leavers’ assembly. Leighton helped to meet and greet visitors, supported pupils and made a really positive impression. John was also recognised for showing kindness to parents during the assembly by helping them find chairs.

Our Year 11 pupils enjoyed a fantastic visit to Arcains, where they had a great time relaxing, playing games and making memories together. They also had a lovely afternoon tea with Mr Chiswell and Mrs McGlynn, where they shared fond memories of their time at school. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their journey, celebrate friendships and look ahead to the future.

There was lots of brilliant learning on display too. In English, pupils were praised for their effort and independent work, including Freddy, Abby, Bella, Oliver and Kieran M. Spencer enjoyed reading Our Day Out so much that he asked for an extra English lesson! In PSHE, Scarlett and Isla produced great work on identifying fake emails and texts, learning about phishing and smishing.

Creative achievements were also celebrated. Reece produced impressive charcoal sketches as part of his independent art project, while Blake, Tristan, Sophia, Lawrenah and Lacey created colourful Picasso-inspired portraits. Daisycompleted thoughtful research to support her final artwork, and Isla continued to develop her shading and proportion skills. In music, Jade impressed staff with her talent and progress.

Food Technology pupils also had plenty to be proud of, with Ethan, Bonnie, Kieran, Sonny and Harvey making brilliant Colin the Caterpillar cakes. Meanwhile, pupils working on enterprise showed fantastic commitment by researching products, pricing stock, serving customers and promoting their shop, raising an impressive total of £122.

There were also great achievements in STEM and practical learning. Ollie programmed a robotic car to high five, showing amazing technical skill. In Science, Isla and Scarlett explored spectrometers and how they can be used to age a star. Scarlett and Isla were also recognised for their brilliant work on pie charts.

The assembly also celebrated teamwork, resilience and helping others. Pupils in Harrison were praised for showing resilience through change, while John, Jamie, Ryan and Billy demonstrated excellent communication during tug of war. Triston was recognised for helping Mr Williams clean the windows, showing a fantastic attitude and willingness to help around school.

Finally, we celebrated our 100% attendance pupils from last week. Well done to Olly H, Seb, Ollie W, Connor W, JJ, Sophia, Ollie WW, Bonnie, LJ, Abby and Scarlett for their excellent attendance.

A huge well done to everyone featured on last week’s Wall of Fame. It was another wonderful celebration of hard work, kindness, talent and togetherness across The Observatory School.
