A Fantastic Week of Learning and Achievement at Vyner Campus
It has been another busy week at the Vyner Campus, with pupils showing pleasing effort and engagement across a range of subjects. While there were a few challenges during the week, it has been encouraging to see the quality of work pupils have continued to produce and the positive attitudes many have shown in their lessons.
Celebrating Excellent Attendance
We were pleased to recognise pupils who achieved a full week of attendance. Attending school every day plays an important role in supporting pupils’ learning, helping them build routines, develop friendships and make the most of their education. Well done to all those who achieved a full week.
Strong Work Across the Curriculum
Pupils have produced some pleasing work across different subjects.
In Maths, Kieran developed his understanding of fractions and percentages, working independently and using QR codes to support his learning.
In English, pupils explored different text types and began planning their own short stories. Ash, Isla and Scarlett made a promising start with their ideas, while Lizzy, Lacey, Lucie, Alfie, Blake, Leighton, Sophia and Lawrenah all produced strong work in their lessons.
In History, pupils learned about life on plantations during the mid-19th century, with Isla and Logan producing thoughtful work.
Our PSHE lessons focused on the emergence of fake news and its impact on society, with Scarlett, Logan, Liam, Harvey and Ash contributing well to discussions.
Geography and Science Learning
In Geography, pupils have been learning about Japan, carrying out independent research and extracting information from texts to build their understanding.
In Science, Spencer’s class explored inhaled and exhaled air through practical investigations. Lizzy, Lawrenah, Blake, Sophia, Lucie and Lacey all showed good engagement in the practical work.
Meanwhile, pupils in Discovery investigated static electricity, enjoying hands-on science activities.
Creativity and Practical Skills
Pupils have also been developing their practical and creative skills.
In Food Technology, pupils made macaroni cheese and created their own KFC-style burgers, which were well received.
In Art, pupils explored shading and blending techniques. Logan K produced some strong tonal shading work, while Kian created an impressive drawing focusing on light and shadow. Pupils also created thoughtful Mother’s Day cards and paper craft flowers.
In Computing, Ash, Scarlet and Liam took on a vector graphics challenge, producing creative digital designs.
Reading and Engagement
Pupils have continued to show positive engagement with reading, including exploring Roald Dahl’s The Witches. Bonnie showed particular commitment to her reading and summary work, demonstrating a growing interest in books.
Physical Activity and Enrichment
Pupils have also been taking part in a variety of activities beyond the classroom. Hopper and Sinfield worked together during Active Tag, showing good teamwork and participation.
A special mention goes to Lizzy and Lucie, who have embraced the new girls’ gymnastics sessions, with Sophia joining them this week as well. The group have shown real enthusiasm for the activity.
